Birthday Wishes...

Mornin' friends!

Sorry about my absence yesterday. My mom has experienced some uncommon complications after her gallbladder surgery and had to be readmitted to the hospital. She is doing much better now but they want to keep her for the week to make sure no infection spreads. Needless to say the unexpected trips to the hospital once again are taking precedent over most of my crafty fun time.

Even though it took me a couple days of popping in and out of my crafty room, I did manage to make a card for this week's Kraftin' Kimmie challenge. They want to see heat or dry embossing on a card which really inspired me to pull out my heat gun and some embossing powder... tools that often get neglected by me. I had recently stumbled across the KK Three Wishes set which I guess was released last summer during all the craziness I had going on so I was completely unaware of its existence. But once I saw it, the genie and fortune teller where too fantastic to pass up. With all of her gold coins I knew that the genie would be perfect for this challenge because I could use gold embossing powder to make the sentiment coordinate. As I was putting everything together I even took it a step further by adding gold embossing along the edges of some of the paper strips as well. It doesn't show up great in the photo unfortunately but in person this card really sparkles and shines. :)
I did do a tiny bit of altering by wiping away this genie's hooked nose and drawing in a petite looking one, which helped to make the rest of her features appear more delicate. Just the look that I wanted for this magical birthday card.

Alrighty, I'm not going to make any promises on when I'll post next... it just all depends on my crazy schedule. So I'll see ya when I see ya!

I hope you know...

Hey there!

It's promising to be a beautiful Saturday here in my neck of the woods. I'll be working most of the day but afterwards I plan on taking advantage of the sunshine and go find something fun to do. I'm not sure what kind of trouble I'll find to get into but I need to blow off a little steam. :)

So I've made a card to play along with this week's Flutter By challenge. It's a sketch and it was just what I needed to pull this one together. I had already grabbed this pre-stamped Pergamano Fairy off my desk and cut the circle around her, so I figured it was totally meant to be when I saw that the sketch had a circle front and center, LOL!
I can't recall whether I've stamped this cute fairy up before but I totally adore her. There is something about the look on her face that reminds me of the little girl who plays Arya in the Game of Thrones series... I think it must be those sad eyes.

Speaking of GOT, I'm just now getting around to watching the second season on DVD and while they are doing a decent job of sticking fairly close to the books I can't believe they cut out Jojen and Meera Reed! Where are they?! Man, I wish I got HBO since I know that season three has begun but I'll have to wait a year for it to hit DVD. In the meantime I need to restart reading A Dance with Dragons, I had made it only about a fourth of the way through before everything happened with my mom last year and it just kind of got laid aside. Which isn't all bad considering there is still quite the wait before book six is even set for release. So I want to refresh my memory with what all was going on instead of trying to start where I left off. I suppose if I don't find anything exciting to do tonight I may just make a date with my book. ;)

Wow, that was quite the GOT fan girl tangent to go off on but I make no apologies, LOL!
Toodles!

Thanks a bunch...

Olo!

Another busy day is upon me so I'm just gonna jump right to it this morning. :)
When I sat down in my craft room yesterday I really didn't know which stamps I wanted to use or what kind of card I would be making. As I didn't have a whole lot of time I knew that I would have to make a quick decision and figured that I would just grab a pre-stamped image from off my desk. But when I sat down this Penny Black clear stamp set of pots and spring flowers got the gears turning in my head. With just a bit of masking I could put a couple of tiny fairies from the Little Bit of Magic set into some of those flower pots. Because most of my time went into doing that and then coloring the scene up I kept the rest of the card CAS. When I glued the striped paper on, I used my tape runner up top to keep it flat but added foam pop dots along the bottom edge so that part lifts out kind of like an awning over a flower shop window.

Okey dokey, time to scoot. I hope your Friday is creative and fun!

You're Awesome...

Hello, hello!

I mentioned yesterday that a few new crafty goodies had made their way to me last week. And since my creativity seems to have returned I couldn't wait to finally play with a couple of them. When companies like Imaginisce and We R have new releases I always keep an eye out for the $1 snag 'em stamps that they put out because occasionally they make for some great accent stamps to go with the character stamps that I love so much. So when I found all the little Endless Summer snag 'ems I had to have them... just look at that fun barbecue and Ian's massive burger! I used Ian from the now retired Mom and Dad set because he was wearing the shorts I wanted him to for this summer time BBQ. All I did to alter him was draw a tiny oval for his hand and glued it onto the burger. Then I used a foam dot to adhere it all in place so that it looks like Ian is holding it out in front of him. It makes for a simple but fun scene on a card that I think will work nicely for Father's Day.

And since I used an older Greeting Farm stamp I decided to play along in this month's Retro Fresh challenge to use plaids and/or polka dots. I love plaids on guy cards for some reason so that one was a given but I ended up throwing a bit of polka dots onto the card for good measure as well. ;)

Alrighty then, take care and have a good one!

Wonderful friend...

Hi Guys!

Sorry about my absence the last few days. I fell into a bit of a funk on Sunday and it carried into a loss of crafty mojo as well. It was the pits I tell ya, I had gotten some fun new things in the mail last week and not even they could entice me to get creative. I'm happy to report that things are a bit better now and I enjoyed some time in the craft room yesterday. :)

The card I made is for this week's review preview of the April Sweet November release. I chose to ink up Jilly and Emaline's Secret once again because I love how these two besties interact with each other. When it came time to choose some papers to go with them I actually found this card base that I had already glued the cute jar paper onto last summer but never got around to using. This seemed the perfect time to finally get it off my desk because how adorable do those mini Fairwees look with the large jars in the background? It was a lot of fun to then embellish each jar with random bits and bobs to add more color and texture. Yep, I think this one was just what I needed to help get my mojo back on track.
Now don't forget to hop on over to the ATS blog and check out all the fab cards my fellow teamies have come up with.  And the April stamps can all be found here in the All That Scraps store.

Here's to wishing you a happy hump day. I'm off to get my hair trimmed up this morning... yeah!

Sunshine and smiles...

Good morning!

I'm not going to lie, it feels real good to have a day off today. Sure, I've got a lot to get done around the house but I'm tackling it at my own pace, no rushing no stress. :)

So I've made a card to play along in this week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge which is to use a sentiment stamp on the front of your card. This was pretty easy for me considering 99% percent of the cards I make have some kind of sentiment front and center. And apparently I can't get enough of the Pebbles Family Ties papers because I've used them once again this week. This time though, I've paired them up with a darling pixie from the now retired Pixie set from Stamping Bella. I can't get enough of Christy's pixies so luckily there are digital versions available at Tiddly Inks. ;)

I'll talk at'cha all later. Hope your Sunday is full of crafty fun!

Thinking of you...

Hello, hello!

I've got a just for fun card to share today. It came together simply because everything I used was the first thing I pulled at random from various piles. Shy Kaylee was on my desk in a pile of printed digi stamps that I like to keep on hand. Next I grabbed a random bag of scrap paper and blindly pulled out this piece of old Girls' Paperie. I liked both sides of the paper and there was enough of the scrap left that I could put the whole card together just using it. Then I went to town coloring Kaylee up to match in all those pretty pastels. Once she was ready to go all I had to do was get the papers on and figure out what kind of embellishments I needed to add that perfect finishing touch. Because I had used a gold pen to color Kaylee's hoop earring I decided to bring in a bit more gold with this roll of polka dot washi tape that was staring at me from the carousel on my desk. I'm still a bit of a noob when it comes to actually using washi on my cards so it felt good tearing off a strip... though my ocd made me back it with some white scrap paper so it would show up better. LOL, oh well... like I said, noob here. Anywho, stamp, gems, twine... all waiting to get put away but I put them to use instead. Considering how all the elements on this came together by random chance, I have to say that I kinda love it.  :)

Alrighty, I'm off to face the day.
Later gators!

Happy Birthday...

TGIF my friends!

Any big and exciting plans for this weekend? It's going to be pretty mellow around here between work and checking in on my mom. This past week's unscheduled hospital visits kind of knocked around things on my to-do list so there are a few things on it that I need to get done before Monday rolls around again.

Anywho, it felt like it'd been a while since I colored up a Pure Innocence so I went ahead and inked up Birthday Girl. Being short on crafty time yesterday I also knew that I wanted to do a CAS style card with her. The BG Knee Highs paper pad not only had the bright colors that I wanted for this Birthday Girl but it also had that super cute rainbow chevron print that I ended up using to paper piece her dress. Seriously, if I could find a maxi dress with a print like that I would live in it all summer, LOL! But I digress... there were quite a few papers that I wanted to use but how to make them work with the quick CAS design I was going for? That is when I remembered the MFT email that I got Wednesday with their newest sketch challenge. It was just what I needed to get this card rolling. So this is my first time actually playing along in the MFT Stamp Club challenge and I can't believe it took me this long to join the fun!

Thanks for popping by, I'll catch ya on the flip side. :)

Oh happy day...

Olo!

Wonderful news... I was able to bring my mom home yesterday and she is resting and recuperating quite nicely. She called earlier than I expected saying that the doctor had given the go ahead on her release so I still haven't managed to check out that darn Hobby Lobby, LOL! Oh well, it will be a nice treat for her and I to go together once she is feeling 100% again. Thanks for all your kind thoughts and words this past week, it means a lot to me. :)

So you're probably saying that I already used that cloud paper on a card this week. I know, I know but considering the theme of the current Farm Fresh Friday challenge is clouds how could I not use up more of it? Anya Blooms looked like she would enjoy some time under a blue sky so I inked her up for this challenge and gave her a happy place to reside on my card. As bright and cheery as Anya is, I figured that she needed a bouquet of happy sunflowers to complete the scene. All in all this turned out to be a great challenge for using up a bunch of paper scraps that had been cluttering my desk so I'm a happy camper.

Now I really should be getting myself ready for work. Take care everybody!

You're amazing...

Howdy folks!

My mom had to stay in the hospital a bit longer so I'm going down today and hopefully I'll be taking her back home. Everything is still good, it's just taking her a bit longer to get back on her feet. I'm flirting with the idea of leaving early and checking out the new Hobby Lobby before heading over to the hospital, it seems a shame to keep being in town without popping by. :)

Anywho, it's another review preview day over on the ATS blog and my card features the new Mom image from Mashi's Muffins. I really adore this little cutie and the corresponding Dad stamp... now that I think about it, I may just have to make a card soon using both of them together. But I digress, for my card today I knew just the papers to pair up with Mom... I've been waiting for a chance to use this fun print from October Afternoon's Modern Homemaker paper pad and I really love it with her. Makes me wonder what she'll be cooking up in that kitchen of hers, LOL!

Be sure to check out the ATS blog for all sorts of review preview inspiration from the ATS team. And all of the April stamps kind be found right here!

Have a good one. :)

Miss you...

Hello!

I'm running behind today so I have to make this a quick one. I've got another sweet Pee Wee digi that I colored up for this card. She's called Love Letter and something about her kind of reminds me of the Sugar Rush racers from the the Wreck it Ralph movie... maybe it's those big expressive eyes and pinch-able cheeks. I guess because of that connection I was making I wanted to pair her up with some bright candy colored papers and these ones from Echo Park were just what I had in mind. The end result has just the right amount of sugary sweetness to make me smile.

That's all the time I've got this morning, but I do want to say that my heart goes out to those in Boston. So much senseless violence... it's hard to believe. And yet, some of the stories I have read really restore my faith in humanity. Hugs everybody. ♥

So tweet...

Hi there!

Today is my turn to take on the Make It Monday over at the ATS blog. It has been a while since my last coloring video so this seemed the perfect opportunity to get another one made. I've had a couple requests in the past to show how I colored the Love Birds stamp and with all the spring twitterpation going on outdoors this seemed the perfect time to ink them up again. I decided to make a change though and went for a more bluebird type of look this go round. You can check out the video here or on my Youtube channel
As for the rest of the card, I knew that I was going to fussy cut the birds out and trim off the heart shaped leaves so that I could replace them with some Prima leaves. The pearls could be buds or berries... I haven't quite decided which yet, LOL.  :)

Well things are busy, busy, busy so I'm gonna sign off. Thanks for coming by!

Let the fun begin...

Hiya friends!

Are you enjoying this fine Sunday? It's been sunny but very windy here so I haven't been very ambitious about getting out and tackling any yard work. Plus, once I get a few things done off my "to-do" list I'll be heading to the hospital to check on my mom. So far we are still on track for getting her back home tomorrow and nobody is looking forward to it more than her. :)

I recently added Monday Morning Creeper to my TGF collection and thought it would be fun to ink her up for this week's Double Take Tuesday. It's a color combo challenge this go round and we are to use pink, yellow and turquoise together on a card. I went to my scrap bags to find a random mix of papers that would work but once I had a few pulled I realized they were all from the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection... so much for random, LOL!
Now you may have noticed that I did a bit of altering to Monday, while I love her sassy short hair and overall look, I didn't want her to have drowsy eyes or a skull on her shirt for this card. So I wiped them away before stamping and then used my light box to trace on Royal Pain's wide eyes and brows. The stripes on the shirt were even easier as all I had to do was connect one end to the other to complete the lines. Now she is bright eyed and ready to take a spin on her birthday scooter. ;)

Ok then, time for me to make like a tree and leave... later!

Thinking of you...

Olo!

So my mom had her gall bladder removed yesterday which is great. They weren't able to do the quicker laparoscopic surgery so she is having to recuperate in the hospital, probably until Monday. She is doing well and I'm feeling like we may have finally reached the final chapter in this whole ordeal... fingers crossed.

Anywho, I thought it would be fun to ink up a Sister Stamps image for my card today and I ended up doing a bit of simple altering to miss Miyoko. Originally she is holding a cupcake but that wasn't really working with the birds and flowers that I had in mind. So when I fussy cut her out I simply trimmed the cupcake off and glued a little flower in its place. Now she looks like she is enjoying some fresh spring blossoms on a sunny day while the birds are singing a cheery tune. :)

I guess I should go get myself ready for a day at work. Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

Hello...

Hello, hello

So... my plans had to change a bit. No shopping trip today since mom wasn't feeling well yesterday. And after what happened last year we aren't taking any chances so she went to the hospital were they did some x-rays and an ultrasound to see what was going on. She still needs to get her gall bladder removed so I'm hoping that will happen soon because of this. Whatever the problem is, I just hope the doctors can take care of it before anything gets as serious as her last stay in the hospital.

With all of that going on I didn't have a whole lot of time to color yesterday. But I did have a card nearly finished that I was able to pop tiny little Peachy Pixie onto. She's a Tiddly Inks stamp that used to be sold at Stamping Bella but I can't find her there anymore for linking. Originally she is sitting on a branch but I just cut her out and sat her right on top of the sentiment box, which made her even quicker to color and get done. If you are a fellow fan of Christy's adorable pixies, have no fear, I have it on good authority that there may just be some popping up as clear stamps over at Tiddly Inks sometime in the near future. ;)

Alrighty then, I'll see ya tomorrow... hopefully with some better news on the home front. Hugs!

I hope this week has been treating you well. It's been rainy/cloudy off and on all week but I don't mind because you wouldn't believe how green everything has gotten because of it. I love this time of year and soon the apple trees will be blossoming and I wish I could bottle how sweet the air smells when that happens. No candle or air freshener I've ever come across has nailed that scent yet.

My card today has a little Gorjuss Girl out enjoying the fresh spring air. And with her butterfly friend there I'm entering her into this week's Flutter By challenge, which is open. I pulled out a newer 6x6 paper pad from Crate to go with this sweet GG and as I was flipping through the papers that brick looking print was just what I needed to create a 'wall' for her to rest on. After that the clouds and floral print were a given to complete the scene. I have to say that those flowers have a different color combo going on than what I'm used to but it was interesting pulling copics to match for her outfit. The sentiment is a cool wood veneer that I spritzed with a yellow marker to make it coordinate with the whole color scheme and feel that I was going for. I gotta say that if Studio Calico would sell more sentiments like this in packages I would be first in line to grab some, LOL!

Alrighty, thanks for stopping by... I'll see ya again in 24! :)

An amazing birthday...

Good morning!

So are we working for the weekend already? It's only Wednesday and I'm looking forward to my day off on Friday. I've got plans with my mom for that day and we are going to head to town for some shopping and finally checking out the new Hobby Lobby that opened last month. I'm pretty excited for that.

Isn't it fun finding new stamps to create with? Today I'm playing with a sweet little digital stamp from a new-to-me digi stamp shop called Pee Wee Stamps. As soon as I saw this happy face I just had to get Love Expressions and color her up for a bright and fun birthday card. Doesn't she have such a sense of joy about her? Originally she has lots of little hearts around her so she may have been a Valentine image but when I saw Love Expressions she looked like a little girl excited for a party. So I did my best to give her a festive background with the playful Bella Blvd papers. The cupcakes were even fussy cut out of the paper because I didn't have any embellishments that added some extra pizazz to her party. :)

And with that I shall bid you adieu!

Celebrate...

Hey there!

My card for today is for yet another sketch challenge. This time I'm playing along with the SOG monthly sketch and it sure is a fun one. I had these birthday type papers from the Party Day paper pad already pulled for a previous card but I ended up going super CAS with it so these ones didn't get used. I loved them though and thought that the sketch with it's cluster of banners would work really nicely with them. Sure, once I had the card put together, I could have chosen one of the birthday specific SOG images to go with it but something about the color scheme was really calling out for 1920's Gwen. I think it is pretty and kinda vintage/retro with the mix of red/mint/mustard so I just had to color Gwen up to match. All I can say is that I wish I looked as good as she does in a hat, LOL!

Okey dokey, time for me to get a move on.

Hello friend...

Hi-dee-ho stampareenos!

Well, the day started out pretty rainy yesterday so I ended up getting more stamping done than yard work. But the afternoon cleared up and it was nice to get outside for awhile. I love how green everything is getting... it's so pretty. :)

Ok, I know this makes for two TGF cards right in a row but when I got the new Wonderland Beans on Saturday I really wanted to ink one up. And what better reason than to participate in the Double Take Tuesday sketch challenge, so I'm getting this one in just under the wire.
Now in general I'm not a huge Alice in Wonderland fan... as a kid the cartoon just creeped me out and I've never been interested in re-visiting the story, whether it be books or the new movie, now that I'm an adult. But that didn't stop me from wanting these cute stamps and with a bit of simple altering I could easily make them more generic looking. Take Cheshire Bean here... all I had to do was wipe away her cat ears, paws, fangs, and whiskers with a baby wipe and connect the missing lines with a black copic multiliner pen. Now that she is out of her costume she is just a darling girlie with some fabulous hair, LOL!

Arighty folks, I'm off to work. Thanks for popping by and saying hi, I'll talk at'cha again tomorrow. :)

Enjoy your day...

Olo!

Hope your weekend has been treating you well. I'm enjoying a lovely day off today and there are big plans to clean up the garden and get it ready for spring planting. Though I'm sure I'll be fitting in some color time as well. ;)

I made a card for the Farm Fresh Friday challenge over at The Greeting Farm, which is all about bling this week. Considering probably 90% of all the cards I make have some kind of bling on them I couldn't pass this one up. I've been on a bit of a mission to color images that have been stamped and stacked on my desk for far too long and this Karate Anya digi was one of those. I love, love, love her cute hair-do so I did a head swap with Fancy Anya's pretty dress. Now I think she looks ready for a party, LOL! The papers are a random mix of scraps that I threw together, it just always feels great to use more of those up too. Sprinkle on a few gems to add sparkle and shine and this Anya was happy to finally be on a completed card. :)

Ok, well I'm gonna go get my hands dirty for a bit. Have a good one my stampy friends!

Lifetime of love...

Hi guys!

Can you believe we are getting ready for another weekend? I can't get over how fast this week has flown by... I think all of the excitement of April releases on top of a full work schedule are the cause.

So you may have already seen this card over on the ATS blog a couple days ago as I made it for the Li'l Lolita preview. Doesn't Willow make for a positively dreamy little bride? I was a bit worried when I started to put this card together because I didn't have any wedding papers or sentiment stamps. Shocking, I know, LOL! It finally dawned on me to raid my Valentine stash instead. I think the result turned out quite nicely and I used papers that I probably would have even skipped for actual Valentines so I'm calling it a win/win. ;)

Well, I've got another busy Friday ahead of me so I should go get ready for it. Don't forget that the chance to win the new Fairwees ends tonight, so leave comments if you haven't already. I'll be announcing winners here tomorrow!
